For a season in my life I once considered my role in the workplace as 'comic relief' …..a diffuser, if you will. There you go!
While watching scary movies, are you the person who yells at the characters, the person with their eyes covered the whole time or the person who falls asleep?
I'm not a fan or horror/scary movies.
(Then again, is wine involved?)
Yes, I'm the one shouting at the television screen.
If you were dared to spend the night in a 'haunted house' could you do it?

Oh man, Kitchen Moron strikes again.
2 days after our grocery run I went to prepare the 'loose meat' (aka, ground chuck) we'd bought … but couldn't find it. It wasn't anywhere in the fridge, not in the freezer. Nada. Then, right there: Atop the refrigerator sat a package looking for all the world like a bag of potting soil.
On a brighter note! …..
After much 'cussing-n-discussing' Tom and I agreed to knock down the leaky lean-to and purchase a second portable building to house his riding mower and electric tools.
When the installers showed up to pre-check the ground site, one thing led to another. Not only did they offer to tear down the existing lean-to, but they muscled the deck that sat at the rear of our yard ….up to the back of the sun room. It still needs levelled, sanded, etc., but we're looking forward to spending time out there.

skeptic is my middle name, I would be shouting at the idiots in the movie that are doing dumb things, I would have no problem staying in a haunted house, the skeptic in me is not afraid of ghosts, just humans terrify me.
ReplyDeletemy face hurts from laughing about the potting soil on the kitchen counter. what you need is a BIG DOG and it would not have been a problem, BB could have had burger with his bread. LOL.. I am good at opening my mouth and putting my foot in it, so I HAVE TO SAY IT. I liked the deck where it was best of all.... sorry

DeleteAesthetically, you're right. The deck did look better at the end of the yard. Unfortunately, that part of the yard slopes and is prone to flooding. I think we used it exactly once.

Like you I would probably be the comic relief. I'm not a big fan of scary movies, but because my children loved them, I did watch many. The best thing about movies to me is the popcorn. Sounds like a very busy week at your house. That deck should make for some very wonderful moments relaxing outside for sure. Hope you have a happy Halloween too. I'll be with family this evening and the little ones will supply the entertainment!

Favorite horror movie?
Most of them are absolute crap nowadays. I like the old ones, such as "Night Must Fall" (1937) or "The Spiral Staircase" (1946). And a lot of the silent films such as "Nosferatu".
Favorite Halloween-themed song?
I suppose the Addam's Family is the best.
But if we're going classic, I'll choose "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint-Saens.
Something random about my week:
A few days ago I accidentally left a pot of macaroni and cheese on the stove and forgot about it. It burned to a crisp - - and I'm STILL cleaning the pot.
LOL-ing about your first remark! Yes(!) to "The Spiral Staircase" and "Danse Macabre." 'Must confess to being ignorant of the other films you cite.

The movie "Winchester" with Helen Mirren could be considered a horror movie. I really enjoyed it!
Halloween music? I just can't think of anything besides the classic songs of yore. There is a Led Zepplin song that starts with screaming that I really like.
Random? This week I started a exercise regime at our clubhouse. Two days down this week and then I'll add today to it. This amazed me, but all I do is treadmill and reclining bike. But still...

DeleteWhen it comes to Halloween, I'm kind of an ogre, Myra. Lights out, no candy, mainly because we don't have many children in our neck of the woods, and our driveway is dangerously steep. And I don't like horror movies whatsoever - nightmares!

DeleteI feel like my life has been a horror movie. So, therefor I don't watch them. I am a skeptic though. Don't believe much of what I see and hear. Especially in our political climate of today!! You will love that deck. I have a little brick patio out back that I sit at once in awhile. Not often. And Bailey just isn't that crazy about being outside right now. I bought him a coat but that doesn't make him like it any better. LOL

DeleteI would be the smart one in a horror movie. I'm always either yelling at them not to be so stupid or saying "that one is toast." I too rarely watch them, but an occasional one sneaks in now and then. Son brought home to hubby a piece of desert from the new place he works. There were 2 pieces in the container, one for him, one for son. I put hubby's piece in one of our containers and then promptly put it in the bag of stuff we had for son since we were watching the wee one. I didn't realize I had done that. Hubby was looking for the desert the next night and we couldn't find it anywhere. Son later reported that yes indeed I had put it with his stuff. Funny thing is when he got home, he put everything away but that and left it out on the counter and since it was made with dairy, it was a done deal the next day to dispose of it. I can only say it was after midnight when I did it and I was tired :)

DeleteIt probably comes as no surprise, but I'd be the comic relief, too. That's my fall-back role in just about any situation. (I just can't help myself!)
ReplyDeleteI used to read a lot of horror books, which I always preferred to the movies. I HATE gory slasher type movies, which is what most of them seem to be nowadays. There's enough of that awful kind of horror in the real world; I don't need to be "entertained" by it.
A haunted house? Sure, why not. But I wouldn't want to do it alone.
We had more trick-or-treaters this year than we've had in a long time. Last year, we only had ONE, so I very nearly skipped buying candy this year. Good thing I didn't. The only "costume" I wore was my older-than-dirt Halloween shirt that glows in the dark.
