I'm not sure if it's a coping mechanism ... but with so much chaos surrounding us, I made a decision last year to go 'audio-less' during my weekday commutes.
That's 20 hours each week I can allow my thoughts to run amok.
Some are purpose-driven, some prayerful; others plain silly.
... prompting me to wonder:
Do bona-fide celebrities, sports stars and billionaires have to renew their drivers licenses like the rest of us?

Granted, I'm a poor backer-outer ... but why on earth, when there are plenty of pull-through spots available, would motorists do this?

| ... Says she who will drive to the furthest reaches of a lot to find a pull-through spot. (Drives my DH nuts!) Speaking of DH ... Have you ever seen anyone arrange their hangers in this fashion?  ... Maybe it's a guy thing? a military thing? a Polish thing? What in the heck is eyebrow threading?  Last, but not least ... Why?!?!  Jus' saying ... Hope y'all are enjoying this sweet day......

Glad that Tom is feeling good. Hope the news from his surgeon is good news. I have heard of people having their closets organized with hangers that way. And then if they wear the item they turn the hanger the "right" way. At the end of a specified period of time they can see what clothes need to be tossed. Supposedly the ones with the hangers still the "wrong" way. I always park my car the same way but I see a lot of people who back into slots. Never made sense to me. I have deleted all but local news from my Facebook news feed. Just couldn't take the biased reporting any longer. Maybe I'll go back. Maybe I won't!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Paula! I never considered that closet theory. That makes sense to us (as women) .... but I suspect in this case, he's doing it out of long-standing habit. (And, to annoy me!)
Deletei am giggling as i type. i saw the thread eyebrow thing in our mall. we were eating a sandwich and as i sat there my curiosty was killing me, we strolled by so i could stare rudely and she hold a thread in her two hands like when you floss and jerks the eyebrows out.
ReplyDeleteanother giggle, is the hangers. that would drive me nuts.. they are impossible to get off when needed. since bob never hangs anything in the closet, MY JOB .. i hang them the right way.
3rd giggle, my hubby needs your gin to wash his mouth out because it is fowl when i am parking as far out as i can get to pull through so i don't have to back out. with a few HBO words he says what are you doing, just park.... again, we must be sisters parted at birth

DeleteSo glad to know I'm not the only one who dislikes backing out! Come to think of it, I was a breach baby ... and I've never stood on my head ... so it makes sense I simply don't function in reverse!?

Glad Tom is feeling better, Myra! Thanks for that update! Eyebrow threading is supposed to last longer than waxing, but I'm not sure I could take the pain! LOL I have days when I don't turn the radio on for my drive to work. It's usually prayer time for me. I enjoyed your post!

ReplyDeleteI stated in a blog, Florida DMV deserves 'cudos' more than any state I have dealt with. If those stars and billionaires do ave to go to the DMV I would suggest they travel to Florida. Good guys, our DMV!

Funny, I don't recall any special, positive experiences at the Florida DMV. (But then, they once got me a somewhat flattering head shot ... no doubt, by accident. LOL)
DeleteThanks for the update about Tom, I was going to email you and ask. You commute 2 hours one way? I know you take city streets a lot and stay off the freeway, but that's a heck of a commute (and I thought hubby's drive down to Sacaton was bad). He lives on his cell phone seeing what way is clear to go so that's his background noise.

I too like to pull through with the parking space, I don't do well backing out.

Oh no ... no 2-hr. commutes. It's usually 40-45 minutes in the early morning, but they get even with me on the return trip.
DeleteYes, Tom's Dr. is very pleased; follow-up to address the cataract (by-product of surgery) will be determined in a month. Tom not so pleased at learning he can't drive for a week. House arrest ... ha!
I've heard of eyebrow threading but have no clue what it is. I suspect Joan Crawford had something to do with it.

In complete contrast, when I offer a blog rant my stunned readers are frantically trying to delete me from their "Friends" lists. I have the uncanny ability to shred nerves.

I do hope all is well and that you got some good news there. I would love to have a car that had one of those back out screens in it that shows what is behind you. Driving isn't one of my favorite things to do no matter. Too many crazy drivers for me. Hope the weekend ahead is a good one for you !

DeleteI wish there was a place I could pull through at my post office. No kidding, when I backed out today, I almost ran over a pedestrian who upped his speed. I felt so bad. So glad our Tom is doing well. Give him a hug from me.

ReplyDeleteI like to park in pull-through kinda spots when available, but I ALWAYS back into driveways. I'd much rather be able to move forward into traffic than try to see what the heck's going on behind me.
ReplyDeleteUm, no, I've never seen anyone put the hangers in the closet that way. Kinda like putting the toilet paper on the roll "backwards." (But who's to decide which way is right?) It would take a lot of willpower not to "fix" those hangers.
I know, right?! I've tried "fixing" them, only to have them mysteriously realign themselves. In the end, I'm very thankful for my separate closet!
ReplyDeleteHope the news about Tom is good. That one sign gives new meaning to the phrase. " I'm giving you a warning." People here back into the parking spaces at local coffee shop. The city says do it the other way you get fined.

DeleteSuch a nice mix over here. People driving are absolutely insane. I gave Zach a lift to work today making him drive there in rush hour. Coming home I opted for a main street off the highway and God was watching over me. I did not hit one red light until I was five minutes from my house and when I turned off the highway I was 30 minutes from my home! Hee Hee Hee! I was very grateful. I do not miss rush hour traffic even though I was fifteen minutes from my home. I hope you have a wonderful week. Thanks for sharing.
