Firsts, aka

Sunday Stealing

Want to join Bev and friends?  Just push here!

First job?

Receptionist at an Abilene, Texas (physical therapy) rehab facility.  We used to sneak in one of the treatment rooms where they kept warm parafin/wax and dip our hands in the vat.  Boy, the boss was mad!

First favorite politician?

Nope, not going there!

First record/CD?

When my parents bought one of these, the salesman told them I could pick out any LP I wanted.

Frankie Valli + Four Seasons for the win!

First sport played?

Does horseback riding count?  No-one's ever accused me of being coordinated!

First concert?

BJ Thomas.  This was before he got off drugs and turned his life around.  Anyway, he was so high he couldn't remember the words to "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" ... nearly collapsed and had to be helped off stage.  End of show.

First foreign country visited?

Canada

First favorite TV show?

Fury, Rin-Tin-Tin, Lassie

First favorite actor?

Clint Eastwood (Rowdy Yates, Gunsmoke)

First favorite actress?

Hayley Mills (Parent Trap)

First boyfriend?

Gordon.  He played upright bass in the high school orchestra; I thought he looked just like a young Montgomery Clift!

First encounter with a famous person?

I approached Dale Robertson at the NM State Fair, hoping to get an interview for the school paper.  He told me in no uncertain terms to get lost.

First house owned?

Abilene, Texas, 1970

My son's dad knew the owner's son and as illogical as it sounds, she only wanted a $100 down payment to get out.  I just Googled the address and found out it just sold for $220k.  The best part, I could go to the realtor's photos and tour the inside once more!

First film seen?

Bambi.   Like it was yesterday (v. 1957), I remember we  were given plastic deer costumes and marched in a single line to and from the movie theater.

First favorite radio station?

KOMA Oklahoma City.  Being an AM station, we in northern New Mexico could only hear it after dark.

First book I remember reading?

The Black Stallion

Gotta go now!  I'll be back to visit after church.

Hugs, Myra
