In other news ...
So, the other day I was startled to see something on Facebook. This was the 20th anniversary of the Cerro Grande fire which ravaged my hometown, burning more than 43,000 acres and destroying 235 homes. A prescribed controlled burn by the National Park Service, it became anything but.
Ironically, my mother and I'd just flown to New Mexico, fully expecting to 'bunk in' with old friends. Hardly the sentimental journey we'd envisioned.

Our home wasn't anything special, but thankfully it was spared.
I know devastating fires occur all the time, but when it hits home, well, that just feels different.
Like those who are creating funny memes in the midst of this pandemic, I appreciate this resident's sense of humor:

"A fixer-upper ... handyman's dream.

I'm not proud of the way I looked in 1960, but this quad (behind my hat) used to be the one shown above. Close call, indeed!
