Winter... my favorite season!

While this bears no resemblance to "the ones I used to know" ... I'm enthusiastic!

What a better time to indulge in a bowl of Male Chauvinist Chili?

With a name like that, how could I not brew a pot of my own? Early yesterday morning I asked Alexa to play 50's Doo-Wop and began chopping, sauteing ... sampling.
Given that Tom's never met a bean he actually likes, I eliminated those, plus the japapeno. Bowing to my Ketovore leanings, I doubled the meat. Oh, and I added a small can of V8 'just because.'
In between trips to the kitchen with spoons-in-hand, we agreed this is the best chili we've had.
What else?
The trouble-shooter from Ashley Furniture came by. Nice guy! Not two minutes later he confirmed damages and promised a speedy resolution.
(Ummm, that was 10 days ago ... the part is still on back-order. Sigh.)
On the bright side!
The Nurse Practitioner finally called back Friday morning. As long as Tom continues to do well, by the end of the current prescription we can discontinue the 2x/day infusions. Woot!
I think that's all.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going outside and grin at the sky.

Glad you are enjoying the snow, Here we're to be getting some later on but this morning all was quiet and clear. I don't like the snow and have tried to think about other things. Chili is a good way to warm up on a cold day. I may just make a pot here even though I have leftovers to eat. It does sound extra good! Keep warm and safe there and enjoy your snow!
ReplyDeleteWell, the kind of snow/ice you're experiencing is brutal! Maybe that's why Tom -- who grew up in Chicago -- dislikes it so much.

ReplyDeleteThere ya go ... enthusiastic! It's good to be enthusiastic about the snow and everything else. Great word for the year. Over here still no snow but very wet and damp. Some people have now developed webbed feet and quack as they walk!
I too don't like beans. I'll have chilli con carne without the beans. I do have beans and tomatoes in a tin. Have you ever counted how many beans there are in a tin of baked beans? I have ... no two tins are alike. I complained and they sent me a free tin.
I also like alphabeti pasta in tomato sauce in a tin. For older people they now have larger alphabets so they can read them easily. For people who cannot read they have spaghetti hoops in sauce ... O O O O O O O O O (Are you counting?)

Deletewe watched part of a movie the other night before deleteing it from our watch list. they had a fight about whether chili has beans or no beans. one said not chili without beans the other said it was not if it had beans. bob and i both say its not chili if it doen't have beans and decided we did not care for the movie and moved on. i do rememeber mother opening cans of chili without beans to put on hotdogs.
ReplyDeletei was shocked to see that port in Toms arm, it looks miserable to me, just the port and add in all the other stuff, yowsa. oh no on the rapid but not repair, who gets to recline?
You know, I was a little concerned the port picture might be too graphic. (Sorry!) He's going to be SO happy to be able to take a real shower again!
DeleteAlways fun to have the unexpected with the snow! People will be talking about it for years I bet :) I am going to have to look up that chili recipe. Sounds delicious!! I think that is the state of affairs about your furniture. Being able to get the parts, with so much back ordered. Hopefully sooner than later, right??? Great news about the end drawing near with Tom's infusions!!! I'm sure that will be a relief for you both!!!

ReplyDeleteWhen my kids all lived at home making chili was a nightmare. My daughter had to have meatless, youngest son had to have no beans. oldest son and hubby like both in theirs but one likes mild chili, the other super spicy, and then there's me who prefers green chicken chili lol.

DeleteGURLLLLLLLLLLLLL...We are expecting upwards of 16 inches here in Western NY (and yes that is normal)---I remember those days when we lived in Tuscaloosa, of waiting for snow. NOW been here nearly 10 years and frankly, I am just done with it. Can't wait to have sand in between these piggies, LOLOLOL.SOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

ReplyDeleteActually, I like hot peppers, too -- and was going to substitute Hatch. I don't know if you get Conecuh sausage there, but I used their 'hot and spicy' variety; otherwise, I'd put in a little of the fresh Hatch.

DeleteHow exciting to have a little snow in the air. Are you running around with your tongue hanging out, catching the snowflakes? That's what I'd be doing. Your chili sounds good enough to eat, although I am not into really hot spicy stuff. But I bet it is good. And so happy Tom is improving so much. Praise God. DeleteHi-ya, sweet lady! We had snow here, too. Between 2 and 3 inches. Enough for me to make a snowman. Well, actually, a snowwoman. All that's left of her now is a grapefruit-sized snowball. (But we may get more snow this weekend.)
ReplyDeleteThe cold spell meant a pot of chili for us, too. But with kidney beans, lots of kidney beans. I like my meat, but I'd rather skip the meat in chili than leave the beans out. :)
