I am

Thankful .....

... that Tom's getting so much enjoyment, sitting outside for hours on 'his' patio. The birds and squirrels scrabble for purchase on the feeders; and I gotta say, none of the Toyko Olympians seem any more skilled than these squirrels.

His latest trick (Tom, that is) is to shoot his pellet gun against the adjacent burn barrel.  For a while, they'd scatter all directions. Not anymore!  If you've never seen a rodent sneer, com'on over.

Thinking .....
... the inevitable may come sooner than I hoped.  We've not a sure diagnosis, but it seems my elderly Camry's transmission is going.  Given its age and high mileage, there's no point spending the money to have it replaced.

I hate like the dickens to have to shop cars!  Son's says "if you can" wait 6 months. I guess there's a shortage of electronic chips for new vehicles, so the demand for used is keen.  (As are prices.)

Eating .....
... lots of raw veggies and salads. I sure made a dent in the produce section this morning, and want to show you (one of) my new favorite things!

We bought the 'Jumbo and Junior' set at Target last month, and were so impressed how they kept everything crisp for so long.  I went shopping for another 'Jumbo' for Tom's lettuce -- (yes, he eats iceburg, but I like green leaf) -- to no avail.  Amazon to the rescue!
I've never had much luck keeping produce fresh, but these are seriously great.

Wondering .....

Speaking of 'his and hers', we've segued to the point of having our own heating pads.  Good grief, right?
The doc said a brace wouldn't make my osteoarthritis any better, but I'm thinking it would lessen the pain when I walk. I've got something called Meloxicam, but would rather not take it every day.

I'm looking on Amazon, but there's so many kinds.  Can anyone recommend one kind of back brace over another? (p+ty)

and last but not least .....

I said I wasn't going to do anything about Feedburner going away.  And while I'm not setting up a redirect site (for e-mail subscribers) I do think it warrants mention:

On July 1, Blogger will no longer support the "Follow by eMail" (ie Feedburner) format.
However, you can still follow me here at
https://mevely317.blogspot.com

Not sure what's going to happen, but hope and pray I don't lose anyone.  Like the lyricist penned, "I've grown accustom to her your face."

Have a great evening, everyone. Let's talk soon!

Hugs, Myra

  1. One great way for your readers to follow you, (or continue to do so), is by copying https://mevely317.blogspot.com in a folder on their desktop.

My techie did that for me. A folder with all my favourite Blogs. I visit them all eacvh day.

BY THE WAY: Please take away the period (.) after com in your address. If you have the period it will not connect.

Praying you are better soon from the backpain. I hope someone recommends a good solution for you.

    God bless.

  3. Sorry about your car. I keep mine a long time, too, and it's like saying good-bye to an old friend. There does come a time, however. I'm looking into those produce keepers! More necessary now, with just one consumer in the house. Love ya, dear friend!

    1. Thanks, Terri! Ya, I got tired of us throwing away 'tired' produce. 😘

  4. Funny about the squirrels but so true. I feed those little guys, can't help myself. My car is definitely on it's last leg too. It's definitely a problem now. I'm usually careful to plan around my produce but those containers do sound nice. I just might try them out. Thanks for the recommendation Myra. Have a great week. :)

  7. I don't follow you on Feedburner but through Blogger's Dashboard so I think I'm good to go come July 1st :)

Oh wow about the car. I did hear there is a shortage of used cars available too. But I agree, it comes a point where you don't want to spend any more money on a car that is on its last days.

Too cute with the squirrels and birds that come visiting :)

    1. Have you heard of Carvanha? Just for giggles, my son called them about his F150. They offered him almost $7k more than what he paid for it new in March!

  8. Hi, I'm River, from Australia, hopped on over via Victor. I have a "favourites" drop down list where I keep all the blogs I read, so have never needed or wanted Feedburner. In the title bar where your url shows up, over on the right hand side, (on mine anyway) there is a small star with a + sign, so if I click on that a dropdown asks do I want to add this to "favourites", I click on "Done" and it's done. So with or without Feedburner I will always have my favourite blogs to read.

  9. I use Feedly.com to see which of my favorite blogs have just posted. It's not my favorite format, but it works just fine.

  10. alas! alack! my fridge is tiny and those would not fit, i have heard others say how well they work. bob prefers iceberg me leaf also. i use the big leaf to make a breadless wrap for all kinds of things. i sprinkle a few sunflower seeds in the leaf wrap. oh no on the car. now I understand the high prices of used, i have been looking on line and told bob how much used cars cost now. yet another pandemic. i have suffered osteo in my back for years and excercise is what will help it. a brace will not. unless you are lifting heavy stuff. you are eating the right way for it , sugar and flour make it hurt worse. will send you an email. since 2015 i only have occasional flare ups, and use of heating pad comes in to play. or if i do yard work.

  12. Check out https://follow.it That is what I did, and it was pretty simple to do, even for me. And I want to see those rubbermaid jumbo containers. If they seriously keep produce fresh, I want them. Thanks for the info.

    1. Thanks for the tip!
Now, 'jumbo' is what I call them, not the manufacturer. (LOL) I just grabbed my measuring tape -- it's 9" x 8" + 6-3/4" high.

  13. I loved the squirrel meme, Myra, but then again, what would you expect? Like the idea, too, of keeping veggies fresh in those containers. I'm following you via Blogger, so I know we won't lose touch.
    Blessings!

  14. I've got an assortment of squirrels here due to all thea across that come from my large oak tree. They don't seem to do any damage so far. I just like to watch them scattering around and up and down the tree. I'll be looking out for some of those nice crispers. Nothing like fresh veggies on these hot days ! There is what they call a crisper drawer in the fridge but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I wore a back brace for many years. I was told it was either that or traction every 6 months. But now I do pretty well just hobling around as I am with some aspirin to take off the edge. Hope you are doing better soon. Nothing wrong with taking meds if they do what they are supposed to. Take care !

    1. Interesting! So glad to know you're able to get by without it! I'm smiling, remembering my mother always referred to that bottom drawer as the 'crisper.' Nope, didn't seem to make much difference. Thanks so much for your well wishes!

  16. There is definitely a used car shortage which does indeed drive up prices. I laughed out loud about your squirrels!!!! Also, I may have to get some of those lettuce/produce boxes!!

  17. Lots of good stuff today. Sherry was here earlier. Good read. Most of all thanks to your son for giving the reason for Used Auto's prices going up! Son was saying that was a fact but did not know why.
I will also put a note on my blog as you did about the e-mail thing. Thanks for that too.
I spent a few hours trying to squirrel proof a widows garage today, yep she says they give her the LOOK!
GOOD entry and wit today. THANKS AGAIN

  19. Yes there is definitely a shortage of chips. Way to go on eating all the veggies. As far as I know I don't follow anyone by email. I read everyone in Feedly.

  20. I will have to put that note up about the email following. Thank you. I don't get much traffic at my Tata;s Cottage but I love my blogs as journals for the kids anyway so I have never been one to have all the ads and all the stuff. Plus when I first started blogging I was told by a friend to go to specific blogs. They were big, worldly people and never came over once to say hi. SO I dumped them all. I may take a while to come visit but I appreciate every single comment I do receive. I nearly called my doctor about the shots for my knees and found my old excercises. I am still using them and need to add more for my low back (osteo) and neck too. We love all the different lucce types out there. Lots of choices.I have tried the gluten free wraps and I am surprised they fill you up and keep you full. Once Hannah and Jake's vacation is over I am going to go back to watching what I eat. Yeah, the cars and chip shortages are just another ploy of the 2020 days. Greed plain and simple. We have older vehivles and I pray they keep running. It is hard to let those cars go but I understand. DId you know the Camry engine is the exact same one in the Lexus car models? I learned that when Jeremy worked at a Grease Monkey in high school.I need more veggies on my plate. I am a fresh fruit person all summer long. :-)
