No, not yet. I do wish it were legalized nationwide for those suffering from chronic pain and end-stage disease.

No, we're not orchestrating an early Halloween.
Rather, cause for celebration when the Hatch chile arrived from New Mexico on dry ice!
In an uncharacteristic state of mind, last week I ordered 5# of the absurdly expensive (to me, anyway) real Hatch.
Even tho' I turned down an opportunity to travel back to Los Alamos for my 50th class reunion … I think 'home' can be found on a dinner plate.
Jus' curious. What food (or beverage) says 'home' to you?

I dont' like Sinatra, bob loves him. and I don't have answers to any of the singer questions and my answer to the baseball question is the same as yours. there is not much my hubby and I agree on, hardly anything, but we both think watching paint dry is better than a baseball game.
I am soooo there with you on the grits and cheese. (More cheese, please?!)
DeleteOh gosh, anything Polish or Hungarian on a plate says home. I'm neither, but this area had a lot of immigrants from those countries back in the day and I grew up surrounded by them. So pile on the halupki, halushki, kielbasa, and pierogies!

DeleteMaybe home is like my grandmothers homemade chicken noodle soup...always warm and comforting. I'd never heard about Albert Einsteins theory of happiness and I agree, yes, positively too. And the song, take me out to the ball game...makes me happy. I can remember singing it at a ball game years ago. Hope whatever made the steam rise in the kitchen turned out ok. DeleteI have too much fun watching people at baseball games than the game itself and find my mind wandering while watching games on TV. But I do like the song and sing it really off key when at games :) I remember driving through New Mexico and seeing the signs of Hatch chili growing, but honestly I'm not sure if I've ever eaten any. Might have to remedy that soon.

Just please, don't buy that canned Hatch they sell in the supermarket …. bleah. Arribas in Goodyear (and Phoenix?) has the Real Deal, with little icons on the menu denoting "hot hot." My friends in N.M. tell me there's fraudulent activity of late, folks peddling Hatch that isn't the authentic. If you'd like, I'll send you the address where we ordered ours.

DeleteOh yum!!!! Hatch chilies are the best!!! We get them once a year in the parking lot of our grocery stores and they roast them right out there! Sooo yummy!

DeleteI have watched baseball, but I do not keep up with any sport. This entry type always seems to make me think "I wish I had said that!" I also wish Pot was legal but controlled (i.e. liquor) in all 50.
ReplyDeleteMy mama was undoubtedly the best cook in the WORLD, but my favorite 'remember food' is simply Cornbread and milk. (Then chicken and dumplings, collards, cabbage, tater pie. hahahahahaha

ReplyDeleteI never warmed up to Sinatra - he was (is) largely over-rated...but I do like "My Way".
Medical marijuana is a bunch of crap. It simply masks pain - like alcohol does. There are no magical components to pot (trust me, I'm recalling my California pothead days....).
The theory of happiness? Heck - smoke pot, drink booze - and you'll IMAGINE you're happy (and listen to the John Lennon song).
Wow, those chili peppers are smokin' hot! Now THAT'S happiness.

DeleteAs I told Terri, I loved the Beatles! I'll never forget being eight-years-old, sitting in front of my grandparents' television, and watching the "mop tops" on the Ed Sullivan show. Seared into my memory! As for food that speaks of home? Down south, that would mean anything fried - lol! Just had fried chicken livers at Cracker Barrel today. DeleteWhen I was young, I was a big baseball fan, but I've kinda outgrown it. Now, I prefer football, and only keep up with baseball by scanning the sports page. Couldn't even tell you the last time I watched a baseball game.
ReplyDeleteI like the lyrics to a lot of the Beatles songs, but I was never a huge fan of the group itself. A little bit of them goes a long way. But Sinatra? I loved him and most of his songs. "High Hopes" is a great choice.
We've got a lot of favorite foods than feel like home. Homemade kielbasa and sauerkraut, steamed crabs, and stuffed cabbage would all have to be high on the list.
