Yes, ma'am! Here goes!
This week is County Fair Week in Terri's old stomping grounds. The Fairfield County (Ohio) Fair holds fond memories for Terri especially of the marching band show on the race track, in front of the grandstand, and of 4-H sewing projects. Do you have a memory of a county or state fair?
I may have forgotten the year, but never my excitement when Roy Rogers and Dale rode around the New Mexico fairgrounds arena so we kids could reach out and shake their hands and pet Trigger and Buttermilk.
If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
Judging by its body language, I'd say the skunk.
What mythical creature would improve the world most if it existed?
By all appearances, Emory (a grizzly bear) is hardly mythical.
Then again, he's not exactly a bear. Rather, a reincarnated Civil War soldier with a message … "God loves all."

What is something that everyone looks stupid doing?
Unless you're Jillian Michaels' twin, I'd say exercising.

Since the V.A. closure on Columbus Day caught us unawares, we'll try again tomorrow (Wednesday). A little later my aquacize "Y" class is having its bi-monthly luncheon at Logan's Roadhouse. Should be interesting to see what everyone looks like with his/her clothes on … lol!

Very interesting questions and answers today. I love fairs, both state and county. I remember my first trip to the Ohio State fair, they were show casing a marvelous new invention...the micro wave oven ! Hope it's a great day for you and hoping for success at the VA and that you enjoy your lunch!

Thanks, Pam! Yes, I recall when those were brand-new … as expensive as all get-out, too. They first debuted them in my hs cafeteria and we'd gather 'round the little window, watching in awe.
DeleteI am laughing, when we run into YMCA friends, we always say to each other, wow did not recognize you in real clothes... in my job as Team Leader over 21 payroll people Intelligcene came 2nd behind common sense. so my answer is wisdom if the definition is common sense. I had super intelligent people that passed the tests with high marks and could not do the job because they had no common sense.
ReplyDeleteI am picking people walking while tapping on cell phones as looking and acting stupid. front desk person at our Y broke her ribs by doing that and falling over the concrete bumper block where she parked her car...
You make a great point, Sandra … remember the term, 'educated idiots'? I wish I'd thought about those cell-phone users.
DeleteI love this, I have said that many times like the demented person I am, repeat repeat. HOWEVER today the county fair rung a bell. We accidentally attended a county fair with the grand kids, and it became a yearly ritual for many years. They speak as if it was the highlight of their childhood. Your yearly county fair ritual with the grands sounds wonderful! Hard to say which generation had more fun? Hearing their praise so many years later must make y'all feel SO good.

DeleteCounty Fair is like concrete in my brain. Oh boy. We counted the days when it would be set up. During the day, it was shabby and trashy. At night, though, lights and music were magical.

My Mom met Dale Evans in a dress shop once (in Apple Valley, CA). They were both buying bras (no, I'm not kidding).
I have childhood memories of the Los Angeles County Fair - which was held in September, the hottest month of the year. It was always like 110 degrees and absolute hell.

Skunks are rude, I agree with that!! LOL I've not heard of Emory, but we could sure use that unconditional love to cover the world! How fun to have seen Roy and Dale and the horses in person! Memorable indeed!! Thanks for joining in, Myra!!
