Friday Fotos: On the street where I live

Good morning ... happy Friday!

Taking a page from Sandra (aka MadSnapper) today!  Homes in her Gulf Coast region (Florida) sport daring splashes of coral, aqua, magenta -- what I think of as a Caribbean look.   I enjoy her photos, engaging in a "What would I choose?" game of make-believe.

I don't know that we here in central Alabama can be catagorized.  Sure, travel a few miles west and there still exists plantation-esque residences.   All about lay brick-and-mortar designs of varying altitude.

Having grown up in uniform government housing, when we built our home in Arizona I had no qualms with HOA-designed structures.  At first I even appreciated its middle-class conformity.

Isn't it curious how, over time, tastes change?   I've got to give props to Tom for letting me take the reins when it came to house shopping.   I think our realtor was a bit taken aback when I kept insisting, "NO cookie-cutter!"    God bless Belyn!  She had the patience of a saint, resolve of a bloodhound.

Safe to say (in my book) she hit a home run.  Want to see what I see?

While a few brick-and-mortar homes exist along the 1.0 mile stretch of Chapman Road, here's what piques my interest.

Catty-corner across the road -- friend Robin Chapman's home/Academy.

And just to my left?

Ha ... just kidding!
Constructed in 1830, this was the home of plantation owner Joel Zeigler.

It was torn down in 2018, but the land's new owners -- Pastor Janet and Andy -- hope to begin construction on their new home this year!

Moving right along ...

I recently discovered this was one of 4 original structures built in 1877!  I would so love to see the inside!

This, too ... 3 fireplaces!

Above my pay grade, but still ...

I struggled -- and failed to get a clear picture of this place.
It may not be a Big Deal in the south -- but I'm fascinated by the white drapes shielding the owners porch.  I love how they billow out on a breezy day ... makes me imagine ladies in straw hats sipping mimosas.  Ha!

I've no idea why -- but aside from our own home, this is my favorite!

Be it ever so humble ...

Wishing y'all a glorious Friday ... keep safe!

Hugs, Myra
