Simple Pleasures

..
Aren't we all inclined to chuckle at the term, "Control Freak"?

There's so little we humanly can control!  (Aside from our attitudes, of course ... but that's a whole 'nother story!)

So, I take a measure of comfort, of Simple Pleasure in the little things.....
Like a crisply fitted, neatly-made bed.

Yes, I shudder to think what Dr. Freud would make of it..... but I get a real sense of unease when the bedcovers are left askew -- almost a tangle reminder of all that's left UNdone in my life.

I once read that Jackie Kennedy Onassis insisted her bed linens be changed for a clean, freshly ironed set of sheets every morning. Now that's luxury!

Possible? Yes. But probable?
I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of time on my hands!

... I'm satisfied to keep the little "control freak" that lives in my head happy with the covers tucked up nice and neat.

Have yourselves a wonderful evening!  And don't forget to stop by Dayle's "Simple Pleasures" for a dose of "feel good."

You make me chuckle and laugh.
The "little control freak in my head" says Hi to your "little control freak in your head".

  2. I have this thing where I don't like to open the blinds until the bed is made. Guess I don't want to cast light on one more thing that got neglected that day! I'm with you -- I love a made bed!

  3. I like to make my bed up every morning too - who wants to get in bed at night in messed up sheets.

Jackie had money to pay someone do her sheets - not a simple life if you ask me.

I think your going on a trip soon - have fun!

  5. I'm just like you. I get a real pleasure out of knowing that my bed is made and pillows are where they are "assigned" to be.

I just think after the end of a long day, it's nice to have ORDER.

Great simple pleasure. I wouldn't have thought of it.

  6. Oh yes, a made up bed is so satisfying! To have new sheets every day might be nice but not 'home'. Sounds more like a Motel :-) Love all those lovely crisp white pillows lined up on the bed!! blessings..Trish

  8. I love your crisp bed! There's nothing like a clean set of sheets to crawl under at the end of the day. Great post, my friend.

As for Jackie Kennedy Onassis ... love that idea, if only I had a housekeeper to make it happen.

  10. Now if I would have just been looking and thinking, this one would have been mine!!!
White fresh sheets, tightly fit and tucked - nothing like it! Love the four neatly arranged pillows too!
You've got a great one here my friend.
Thanks for visiting and encouraging me.

  11. Thanks, everyone, for your sweet commentary! :)
I should have mentioned, this is not my own bed ... rather, taken from one of the guest rooms at my workplace.
I've not the skill or patience to do a "sheet job" like this!
I'm off for a long overdue visit with my son and his family in Alabama; to "help" my Auburn Tigers beat Georgia on Saturday. (Fingers crossed!)

  12. Oh no! As much as I love a neatly made bed, I rarely find myself enjoying one! I used to laugh at my dad who would painstakingly made the bed every night before he got into it. I'd wonder, "Why bother? It's just going to get messed up anyway." But now...I get it! I just wish I had the time to *make* it happen. (And I probably do. It's all about priorities, right?)

And just once in this life, I'd like to sleep on an ironed set of sheets. I can't even imagine!

This is indeed a simple pleasure - one I should enjoy more often!

  13. Wow! I bet you could bounce a coin off your bed. I do try and make our bed each and every morning. It is so nice to come home from school and find things in order. But not every day turns out like that. We are lucky to have our sheets changed once a week. (the kids have to wait for their biweekly changing and their beds are always a tangled mess. :) Best wishes, Tammy

  15. I do love a made bed, too! And crisp white sheets, unless it's winter, when I prefer flannel.
    Your bed looks terrific!

  16. Great post. We think alike.....I'm glad you are able to fly out of here for a while. I hope and pray that you will have a fantastic visit and a safe trip. I even hope your team wins on Saturday. I don't think I will pray about that one though. LOL
